A hazy picture of Mt. Meru. Mt. Meru is a volcanic mountain that blew-up Mt. St. Helen's style about 6000 years ago. what is visible here is the resulting giant crater. If you look closely, in the middle of the crater is a darker spot, which is the new ash cone forming. We will be hiking along the far ridge to the summit (on the left), which is about 9-10,000 ft. above the surrounding plateau.
